I just love it when I have an md appt. when the (new to me) md doesn't read the ct scan or listen to my symptoms but rather comments that my problems are migraines and that I don't have chronic sinus (um, other ents seem to think so) and I should just go and buy over the counter meds. Bye Bye. Never even looked me full in the face - and it was an ent, isn't that what they are supposed to do?
I did in fact say, you're the doctor, you tell me but I wish I had added: Come on, do your job. The guy said to me about 20 times, slowly, enunciating clearly, like I was a stupid child, you don't have sinus problems. I wish I had said, well then why do the mds think so? Do you think I would waste time with you, another patronizing mf if I didn't? Oh and another thing, I've been horribly sick w/serious stuff and am on meds, and when you offhandedly say, oh take claritin or any of the other otc things, you could send me into liver failure. So open that fucking online interraction program and find one that won't fucking kill me.

Re: You're the Doctor, You Tell Me
Mon, March 24, 2008 - 5:04 PMI roughly the same problem. I went to the doctor's after a car accident and was treated for a pain in the shoulder. I told the doctor and the nurse's many times that I had major neck pain and they sent me to traction therapy. After traction therapy I sat in my truck and couldn't move for 10 minutes. As i complained about this they said I had a pulled muscle in my shoulder causing this issue. I moved and had a new doctor look into it and this one said right away I may have nerve damage. I have been unable to work since the car accident.

Re: You're the Doctor, You Tell Me
Mon, March 24, 2008 - 6:13 PMI'm almost afraid to ask but what is traction therapy? Not bad enough that you had to endure the accident and what might have been a smaller problem, now you have this. Are you furious? Did you let them know? Or are you taking the path of I'm in too much pain to deal with it now? I'd say sue the bastards but life isn't that simple is it, especially when you feel crappy.
I'm recovering from cancer. My aftercare plan was that I get the standard test every six months. Being me, I pushed to also get an MRI once per year because they are better. I did it in November of 07. I got a phone call in November from the nurse telling me it is clear. I then get a call end January 08 telling me that they have scheduled another MRI and I am meeting with the oncologist for MAY. But it's nothing, don't worry. Translation: the MD just looked at your results and sees something, she has forgotten that my cancer grew so fast that it was one of the 10 most aggressive cases she personally has seen in 20 years. Alternatively, the md just looked at the results and wanted to compare what might be precancerous stuff for another cancer in another area. I guess I'll just have to think happy thoughts and a stomach ache, migraine, and suicidal tendencies for the next few months. I'm not being a big old victim here, that's not my deal, but it's annoying as all blazes to never get off the merry go round. And so when that pundunk ent motherfucker treated me like a hypochondriac, I was not in the fucking mood. I'm used to getting blown off by a better class of doctor. -

Re: You're the Doctor, You Tell Me
Thu, April 3, 2008 - 2:24 PMTraction Therapy is when they hook you to a small computer based winch like device and dial in a light amount of pull on your effected area.
If you need a hand in regards to plotting the MD's downfall let me know. You need to talk about the aspects that make you down. I am willing to listen. My father had cancer they couldn't find do to his body mass. I had to deal with a minor amount when I was younger. It was skin cancer and they still haven't found anything else. I will listen if you need the ear to bend.

Re: You're the Doctor, You Tell Me
Sun, April 6, 2008 - 6:56 PMI'm sorry to hear about your Dad. You are so nice. I am struggling so I will contact you when I have my next go around (could happen any minute). I had a big cry and got over the immediate fury at the hospital screwing up my appointment and my frustration in having to deal with cancer beyond the date I had scheduled for this entire biz to be behind me. I persevered in getting an appt. to see the oncologist, they tried to get me to accept one in August but I called that silly girl so many times (she never once took my call, so she's silly but not stupid) that I'm going end May.
