"It is really great to see you again and you sure are a feast for the eyes!" Instead I just congratulated you on your getting engaged and played it cool. Had I spoken up, maybe it would have meant more...even if we were never to be anyways.

Of course, when I mentioned this to a woman friend the other day she suggested that maybe I should have pushed it when I was there...I got the sense at the time that that is what the engagee was perhaps looking for...or at least was expecting more of a reaction from me than I provided outwardly? In any case, it is not always the case that one should not be upfront, even in situations like that.
As for my attitude, I should hope that most people aren't looking forward to ruining other's bliss, especially if they actually care about the other person...on the other hand, if you truly feel someone may be making a mistake, sitting on the hands is not always the best policy, right?
